The project will fuse landscape, urban ambitions, logistics and architecture to form an integrated whole.
The project eschews the form traditionally expected of industrial buildings, and its design may therefore appear arbitrary at first sight. However, the entirely curved facade, elegantly aligned with the adjacent streets, alludes subtly to the immediate surroundings and will help the building fit into the cityscape.
Due to the flexibility of the structure, all kinds of activity will be able to take place inside. The building will consist of a primary concrete structure (measuring 16.2 x 16.2). Rationally and intelligently oversized, this can be supplemented by a lighter intermediate structure. The oversized dimensions will make the whole building sustainable. The concrete will have a life span of at least 100 years.
With its rational interior and architecturally pleasing exterior, the design will be shaped by the amorphous boundary of the site, made up of urban boulevards, slip roads and roundabouts. A series of thematic patios will let in natural light, enhance the spatial experience and link up the different activities within the building.
